Production of McLaren F1 GTR, directed by former Formula 1 engineer Gordon Murray, began in 1992 and ended in 1998.
At that time, it was the fastest car ever built.
The F1 GTR raced in Le Mans for the first time in 1995, winning outright, with 5 cars reaching the finish line in 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 13th position
The car featured a monocoque carbon – fibre chassis and a BMW 5990 cc V12 engine.
In 1997, the F1 GTR was developed into the Long Tail version. Number 39 raced in Le Mans with blue and orange Gulf colours, driven by Ray Bellm, Andrew Gilbert-Scott, Msasnori Sekiya.

La produzione della McLaren F1 GTR, diretta dall'ex-ingegnere di Formula 1 Gordon Murray, ebbe inizio nel 1992 e terminò nel 1998.
A quei tempi, era la macchina più veloce mai costruita.
La F1 GTR corse per la prima volta nel 1995 a Le Mans e vinse, portando al traguardo ben cinque auto, rispettivamente al 1°, 3°, 4°, 5° e 13° posto. L'auto è caratterizzata da un telaio monoscocca in fibra di carbonio e da un motore BMW V12 da 5990 cc.
Nel 1997 fu realizzata la versione “Long Tail” (a coda lunga) che nello stesso anno partecipo' alla 24h di Le Mans con tre auto nella classica livrea azzurro-arancio Gulf. In particolare questa vettura con il numero 39 era pilotata da Ray Bellm, Andrew Gilbert-Scott, Msasnori Sekiya.
