This week is a big one for the DJR fans out there with 4 different 43rd models ready for dispatch. Additionally, we also have a range of great new international releases from Kyosho in 1:18 Scale.
With the 1:18 versions of the DJR models being released recently, the stories behind these 4 cars have been well covered however we feel the 43rds deserve some love as well. For the collectors wanting to scrub up on their history please read below.
2016 Retro Cars
The 2016 Sandown 500 was dubbed the 'Retro Round' by the Supercars body which saw many teams up and down pitlane embrace the history of the sport or their teams by running retro styled liveries or uniforms. As a team with decades of history in Australian motorsport and now with ties to an illustrious history internationally, DJR Team Penske embraced the retro round by unveiling one-off liveries for the event.
The livery for the team's #17 FGX Falcon was influenced by the 2003 Shell Helix design which was run by Steven Johnson and Max Wilson. While the #12 car of Fabian Coulthard and Luke Youlden's was changed to car #66 for the event with the livery drawing inspiration from a famous Team Penske Indy win in 1972.

2017 Championship Cars
These are perhaps the 2 most highly sought after 43rd models for the year. Scott Mclaughlin and Fabian Coulthard's 2017 DJRTP FGX Falcon rockets. Combined, they were able to win the team championship for the year with Scott only narrowly missing out on the drivers championship in the last race of the season. Many will remember that race as arguably the most exciting end to a championship season in the history of Aussie motorsport!
