GRAN BRETAÑA - MRE NOS PRESENTA LAS NOVEDADES SLOT.IT EN NUREMBERG 2020

MRE Nuremberg Report

SLOT.IT

There are always surprises from SLOT.IT at Nuremberg. With the 2020 catalogue being released 2 weeks prior, we honestly didn't know what to expect. We weren't disappointed........

The Nissan R32 Skyline had been a surprise announcement, and we were pleased to see all three cars finished and ready to run. This had been a well kept secret, and nice to know the first cars will be available soon.

They are intended to run with the DTM cars, but whereas the Alfa Romeo, Opel Calibra, and Mercedes 190E all have conversion capability to 4WD, the Nissan does not. Maurizio explained, there has been no interest in upgrading any of these cars so far, so the complications and effort required in the manufacturing process just aren't worth it. 4WD touring cars are now officially abandoned unless big changes happen. We did get a snapshot of a Nissan R32 chassis that we track-tested, same inline format and motor as the DTM cars, and handing that puts it right in the middle of the range.

From here on, it's all breaking news from SLOT.IT. First up is a 3D printed prototype of a Nissan GT-R GT3 car. It's already a winner for looks, especially with all those deep bonnet vents. This is the first time that SLOT.IT have entered the GT3 market, and what a fabulous car to choose to go and fight with the numerous Audis, Mercedes, Corvettes, Aston Martins, etc, that dominate the class at the moment. In reality it won't be available until 2021, so plenty of time to finalise the versions to be released : here are a few of the possibilities.

The following day, and and even bigger surprise. Fully decorated bodyshells of the Oreca LMP2 car for 2021. Two livery samples for display, although they didn't have chassis underneath : in fact I helped Olivia fix the axles in place with blu-tac so they could be displayed. It is obvious this car will make an ideal trackmate to the Lola B12/80 and even the Aston Martin LMP cars, but the Oreca is designed to use a standard guide and not the low LMP guide.

On the technical front, SLOT.IT will be releasing all their cars with a connector in the wiring to easily fit a digital chip. The SLOT.IT chip will plug straight in, you may have to fiddle with the connections for Carrera or Scalextric SSD chips. In conjunction with the chip connection, all new cars fitted with this will also have the appropriate holes in the chassis for the sensors, so making installation for any digital system much easier. The first chip-ready car to be released will be the Mercedes 190E DTM Karcher model.

In other SLOT.IT news, we can tell you that the Chaparral 2F that was proposed at Nuremberg last year has been delayed. It is still in the plans, but problems with the chassis manufacture in China have meant virtually starting again. It may appear by the end of this year. The first release will be the # 15 car from Daytona 1967. Following the 2F, the Chaparral 2G that was announced a few years ago is also still on the list, although not a high priority. It has suffered the same delays as the 2F and so dropped down the priority list, but will come out eventually.
