INGLATERRA : NOVEDADES AGOSTO EN MRE

NEW IN STOCK
We have new cars from three brands this week - SCALEXTRIC and NSR andSLOTWINGS have all sent us new models.
The most brightly coloured and distinctive car came from SCALEXTRIC. The Mercedes AMG Sun Energy car raced at the Daytona 24 Hours, obviously taking some light into the darkness.
A slightly older GT car arrived from NSR who released the latest version of the Mosler MT900. This one has Gravity sponsorship and raced at Spa.
SLOTWINGS sent us a new BMW M3 E30 in the dark green and gold colours of Diebels Alt, which was driven by Christian Danner in the DTM series. We also received a couple of Limited Edition Porsche 917K Gulf cars. These are the team cars that raced at Brands Hatch in 1971 - a very wet race which is indicated by the # 6 car having a weathered finish, while the # 7 car is as shiny as when the race started.
SLOTWINGS also sent a few special twin-packs of Porsche 917K cars that raced at Brands Hatch. The Gulf team and the Martini team cars from 1971 are all finished with a wet and muddy appearance and arrived as pairs. These are all Limited Edition sets and were sold out to advance orders within hours of last weeks Newsletter going out - sorry we don't have any left and can't get any more.
DUE TO ARRIVE
Cars we know are on the way to us - the THUNDERSLOT Lola T70 Spyder Andretti(this is the car with the high exhausts, very distinctive). The PRE-WING Shadow DN1 Embassy and the Shadow DN1 Follmer (both of these are resin bodyshell kits for you to build with running gear of your choice, although they are designed with thePOLICAR motor pod and drivetrain in mind). Cars we expect very soon and hope some may arrive next week - the new LE MANS MINIATURES Bugatti 57G, both team cars from Le Mans 1937. New REVOSLOT Porsche 911 GT2 cars are due this month.SCALEXTRIC and SIDEWAYS have lots of new cars that should be released but we haven't had any notifications of delivery dates. The THUNDERSLOT McLaren M6 cars will not be here until September.
NEW CARS ANNOUNCED
Sorry - no news from any manufacturers about new releases planned, Maybe when they are all back from August vacations they may be able to tell us something.
NEWS ROUNDUP
MANUFACTURERS PICTURE - SLOT.IT The next version of the Porsche 962 IMSA car to arrive will be this Copenhagen model. Competing in the heyday of IMSA when the Porsches battled against the Nissans, Toyotas, and latterly the Jaguars, this one will be well know to American racers.
THE LAST WORD
Summer has gone now ? Maybe, maybe not, but the hot sunshine disappeared from the UK a week ago and we have had some rain. Time to do some slot racing work indoors again.....
While it was still sunny I had to build a new saloon car for the Netley Classic at the beginning of August, and annual event run to CSRA rules. We just had the newPROFESSOR MOTOR repops of some old Revellogram stocker bodyshells arrive atMRE, and as the 1963 Ford Galaxie was legal for the touring car race I just had to put one together. Using a Richard Mack steel chassis and mostly Slot.It running gear, the setup was mostly guesswork. The car was not authentic, but looked the part and gave the impression of a real NASCAR racer - others obviously though the same because it was judged the best presented touring car at Netley. Not quite as successful on the track first time out, but the lessons learnt with gearing and tyres at Netley should see it finish a bit higher up on its next outing. The buildup is featuring in a step-by-step arti cle in the next issue of SCM Slot Car Mag which is the UK's most popular slot magazine.

This week I have been building up the new THUNDERSLOT McLaren M6 kit. Some pre-production samples were sent to the UK for test and review - a complete car to Marc Abbott for testing, and kits to myself and Ric Woods for building and testing (maybe THUNDERSLOT do not trust Marc for car building  LOL). After wondering what McLarens would look like if Bruce had chosen green instead of orange to paint his cars, you can see the result on the completed car that I built below. The red car is Marc's test hack, with new decals and a shiny finish on the very quick car that arrived set up by Joe Montiglio, Mr THUNDERSLOT himself. Both of these cars have a lot more pictures on Facebook.
You won't see either of these featured in print because Ric is doing a full step-by-step build for the UK's premier slot magazine SCM Slot Car Mag. I did try and find out which version he would do as the kit contains many option parts for engines etc, but apart from admitting he wasn't confident about all the yellow lining on the Sunoco car (although all the parts are included in the kit - not much guesswork needed about a future release, then), what will appear in the article remains a mystery at the moment. The next issue of Slot Car Mag will be out in the first week of September if you want to know more about these incredibly quick cars, and how to build up the kit if you don't want to buy one of the first releases.
I have also been very busy with other slot racing projects - the workbench has almost been ablaze with activity. But not with more slot cars - you'll have to wait until everything is finished before I can show you what has been keeping me busy !
