It's been a very busy week again, we have new cars in stock from SCALEXTRIC andFLY and SRC and RACER and AVANT-SLOT and SLOT-IT and CARTRIX andCARRERA and SCX.
In alphabetical order we can start with AVANT-SLOT who delivered the latest livery on the Opel Manta 400. Carlos Sainz drove this Finley liveried car, and the AVANT-SLOTmodel is just as fast as the Spanish hero could get it to go.
CARRERA sent us two new 1/24 scale cars. The Ferrari 512S in the bright yellow Belgian colours makes a superb mate to the red car released a few weeks ago. The Mercedes SLS is a brand new car, and a second version is due soon.
On to CARTRIX who have finally released a new car on general release. The Porsche 804 is a welcome addition to the 1.5 litre formula cars, this car was driven in the French GP by Dan Gurney.
We have a new Limited Edition car from FLY. This BMW M1 in Boss livery is one of the best looking models of this car, but has very limited availability.
The colourful Ford Capri Liqui Moly car is in the RACER Sideways Group 5 series. he real car was driven very fast by Manfred Winklehock and the RACER model is known to be quick around the track even though it has lots of nice detail as well.
We have another three new cars this week from SCALEXTRIC - or should that be 5 new cars because there is the new triple-pack Rally Legends set. This has the Ford RS200, MG Metro 6R4, and Audi Quattro S1 as driven by Stig Blomquist in a special Limited Edition presentation box. Another famous rally car is the Ford Escort RS1600 driven by Roger Clark on the Monte Carlo rally, very nice with Cibie Super Oscars uncovered and the smaller Cibie Oscars with nice shields in place. The first Lamborghini Aventador makes an appearand in a much nicer metallic blue than shown in the catalogue, this is the cheaper SR car and we expect the fully detailed orange car to arrive very soon.
It seems a very long time sice we had new cars from SCX but two turned up this week. Both new liveries on existing models, the Morgan Aero driven by Jacques Laffite won't be everyone's cup of tea with it's brown scheme, but the Ford Fiesta WRC car will be very popular with Slot Rally fans.
SLOT-IT delivered the first new Can-Am car, the magnificent McLaren M8D. This car has race # 48 used regularly by Dan Gurney who stepped in to drive the car at Mosport. It's big, it's fast, it's SLOT-IT - what other reason do you need to buy it ?
After a very nice run of Porsche 907 cars, SRC have begun to model the Porsche 908. The first two cars to arrive are both the 908L long-tail cars as raced at Le Mans. Look closely and you can see how the front end bodywork and detail evolved between 1968 and 1972 when these cars raced for 24 Hours.
