Genesis got the evening underway, and ten of us took to the track to battle it out for the honours as well as seeing if any personal bests could be improved upon. At the top, Chris Stemman claimed the first podium spot ahead of Barry Gilzean by one and a half laps. Just over a lap behind Barry, Ray George was happy with his third place finish. Another good run by Paul Burgess saw him improve his pb in this class.
On to the unpredictability of our notorious Club24 cars as they took to the track untouched from a corporate event a couple of weeks ago. A quick once over from Chris deemed them good to go, and it was on with the race. Not one to cast aspersions on fellow drivers, but one member was particularly vocal about A: one particular corner on blue lane, and B: the handling of the yellow lane car. Far be it for the rest of us to say, but none of these particular problems, and there were plenty of others, seemed to afflict the majority, but it was very funny watching the frustration build in one Mr Lyons.
As the final flag dropped on an eventful race, Barry made the most of the varying skills needed to pilot four cars with very different characteristics around the LSCC track and relegated Chris into second place. Aston Offer was third, less than a lap behind.
The club cars will now be off to the repair shop (fix these, if you can, Steve) for a well earned chassis massage and power upgrade in time for their next appearance on the 'fifth week' at Manor Farm.
Normal service resumes next week as F1/F2 follows on from our Genesis warm up class.
Until then, stay safe and don't forget to register your entries for the upcoming Nats.
