MRE Slot News 28 May
OPEN FOR MAIL ORDER
SEE BELOW
NEW IN STOCK
Only one new car has arrived this week. SCALEXTRIC delivered the second Chevy Camaro IROC car, this time in blue with # 22 and similar logos to the red # 12 car. We haven't put them side-by-side yet but it looks as though they would make a nice pair.
DUE TO ARRIVE
The UK distributors are still waiting for confirmation of these cars being shipped to us : POLICAR Ferrari 312 B2 Zandvoort and Subaru BR-Z Homeset cars, and NSR Porsche 908/3 Tergal. After a short delay we have been told that the TEAM SLOT Escort RS2000 Teboil Gold will finally be shipping next week. There is other shipping news as well - see below.
A little bit ahead but be prepared, SCALEXTRIC have told us that four cars are arriving in the UK next week, so we should soon be having news of these being sent to us : Gulf Collection triple-pack (Aston Martin DBR9, McLaren F1GT, Ford GT40) and the SR Rasio C20 Joker and the BTCC Honda Civic # 600 Tordoff Auto Aid and the Sierra RS500 Listerine.
NEW CARS ANNOUNCED
POLICAR have announced details of the modern generic Formula 1 car. We gave you a lot of information about this in our Nuremberg report, but here are a few reminders. The car represents a current F1 car so it is very long. It will be the first slot car to be released with the driver halo. The front wng is held in place with magnets and will detach in a crash. The front axle is adjustable. Initially five plain colours will be released, we can now take advance orders. Here are a few of the pictures we took at Nuremberg.

NEWS ROUNDUP
McLAREN M6 SUNOCO NOW SHIPPING. We are happy to get an email from THUNDERSLOT confirming they are shipping the new McLaren M6 Sunoco car next week. They also sent some very nice pictures of the production car, and we are most impressed by the fine yellow pinstriping and the very glossy finish. If you haven't already done so, place your orders now, available in about 2 weeks time.
MANUFACTURERS PICTURES - FLY. It seems the next cars to arrive from FLY will be this pair of BMW M1 models. The Red Bull car raced at Daytona, and the Garage du Bac car of Bernard Darniche will have spotlamps as befits its rallying status. No shipping date yet but can't be far away.
NEW TRUCK TYRES FOR AVANT-SLOT. We haven't heard from the Spanish manufacturer for some time, and releases have been notable by their absence, but suddenly there is the announcement of new treaded tyres for their next truck release. They haven't said what that might be, but in the past AVANT-SLOT have made 4x4 and 6x6 Rally-Raid trucks. Maybe they are planning some new releases ?
SRC PORSCHE 914/6 GULF. Last year Spanish company SRC announced they would be producing two Limited Edition models of the Porsche 914/6, one in yellow Tergal livery and one in Gulf colours. Only 2 weeks ago, we received a catalogue number and price for the Tergal car, and now we have a picture of the Gulf car, but still no catalogue number or price. We will add it to our stock list when we get more information, but I'm afraid to say that both cars may have limited availability for UK customers. We have experienced some companies behaving erratically in the past, but SRC seem to be heading towards losing their UK market altogether...........after failing to deliver (several versions each of McLaren M23, Capri RS, Matra MS630, and others) or cancelling so many cars they originally announced (Opel Kadett GTE, Cadillac De Ville, and no mention of the BMW 2.8 and 3.0 for about 3 years now) and now messing around with supply and prices, their credibility is falling rapidly.

BSCRA CLASSIC RACING. I was interested to see a Facebook page devoted to reviving classic car racing as done by the BSCRA. Who else remembers F32, GP12 Saloons, Mura C Cans, and lots of Betta Shadow DN6, Dodge Daytona, and Tyrrell P34 bodies dominating the races. Well, you could go back in time and race them again soon. One side effect is the desperate hunt for original parts - racers and builders have been scouring their old car boxes for anything from the era, and it's surprising what is turning up. Have a peep at BSCRA lassis Racing on Facebook if you fancy a bit of nostalgia - or even if you want to have another go.
PS. I have three ECE controllers available, two resistor type complete with spare resistors, and an electronic one complete with spare transistors - send me an email if you are interested.

MORE SRC NEWS - LANCIA DELTA S4. Another project that has been a long time in development is the SRC Lancia Delta S4 model. It is now being promoted as three versions, but all in Martini Livery driven by Henri Toivenen on the RAC 1985, Monte Carlo 1986, and Tour de Corse 1986. Despite the lack of variety, the cars can be seen in mould-test mode in a short film clip. At this time, we hesitate to know what the UK availability will be.

MRE OPEN FOR MAIL ORDER BUSINESS. We are receiving deliveries of new cars and spares, and just like it says above, we are open for orders and are posting them out to you as fast as we can.
Like everyone else, we are currently a bit restricted in our working pattern. However, we are able to post out your orders on 2 DAYS EACH WEEK so please be patient. We can accept orders at any time, but due to the business centre where the MRE HQ is located being in lockdown, we have only limited access. We are unable to answer the phone so please contact us by email at mre@mre.co.uk  We are doing our best to work as reliably as possible while keeping within the "stay at home" guidelines, we hope you understand we are a ll under pressure at this time. To all of you - please be sensible and stay well.

THE LAST WORD
Summer seems to arrived at last. For most people (including MRE) that means that slot activity takes a back seat although not completely stopped. Lets face it, outside with a cold drink is preferable to being hunched over a soldering iron or truing tyres. Work does continue though, and we are busily working our way through updating our stock list, customer databse, and advance orders. With a proper stocktake underway we should end up with a system that is less clogged up and a bit faster and easier to manage.
With not much interesting news at MRE to show you, we thought you would like to see this Baja Bug built by one of our customers. Using a Mitoos off-road chassis and the Mitoos Baja Bug bodyshell kit, the Camel livery suits this little car very well. With the Mitoos chassis underneath it should manage lots of obstacles easily as well.
If you have completed any projects you are proud of please send us some details and pictures to inspire other people.
