Only 263 of these amazing Australian muscle cars were produced by Holden, with one aim – to win races. With all the factory modifications they were not readily available to the general public, you required a CAMS licence and Holden’s blessing to purchase.
The Bathurst-intended “L34 Option” used a higher-compression 5.0-litre V8 developed by Repco with stouter components for more power and durability in competition use. The L34 was easily identified by the bolt-on wheel arch extensions, designed to accommodate the larger racing rims and tyres. Although a little fragile, the car proved to be fast and successful in the Australian Touring Car Championship, winning both it and the Bathurst 1000 in 1975 and 1976.
The L34 is Holden’s rarest production car and the only one fitted with a race-modified V8. Compare the 263 built to its A9X replacement (305 sedans, 100 hatches) or the contemporary Ford XB Falcon GT (1,950 sedans and 949 coupés, albeit over a much longer period).
This high-quality diecast model has been produced with great attention to detail, with steerable front wheels and opening doors, bonnet and boot lid. With production limited to just 750 pieces, each with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, we expect the small number of remaining examples to sell out very quickly.
